Christmas for our Troops
The project is to send "Christmas Packages" to Soldiers serving in Afghanistan. via Chaplains that are stationed in various Units throughout Afghanistan. With your help, we hope to send as many packages as possible to these Chaplains for them to distribute to the Soldiers in their Units.
There are plenty of Soldiers serving abroad who do not receive letters or care-packages from home throughout their deployment.
This year we would like to make sure that these Soldier's know we all are thinking of, and caring about, them this Christmas season.
If you are interested in donating towards a Christmas package please consider these items:
Personal items: razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shampoo, under arm deodorant, bars of soap, wash cloths, don't forget our ladies (about 15% of our force is female), hand lotion, moisturizing cream, vitamins, wet wipes.
Games & Entertainment: Decks of cards, table games like Yatzee, Jenga, or other games you think are fun, magazines about sports, cars, motorcycles, Readers Digest, Time, People, Vogue, Women's Health etc. Previously read magazines are perfectly fine! DVD Movies
Snacks: Candy bars, hard candy (life savers, fire balls, etc), granola bars, jerky, small snack bags of chips, cheetoes, pringles, chewing gum, crackers i.e. peanut butter, Cheez-its, cookies,
May I suggest sending some Holiday touches Christmas music CD, headband antlers, candy canes, popcorn balls, etc. and a hand written note/Christmas card(s). If you have children, hand made cards and drawings would be GREAT!
Please do no wrap the items as it will help the Chaplain's in sorting and distributing the boxed items. You might consider including a Christmas stocking(s) so the Chaplain's can then "stuff" the items sent.....an easy way to add a touch of Christmas!
Finally, I must send the packages to Afghanistan by 30 NOV. (the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend). Let's help make this as "Merry of a Christmas" as we can for those who are working so hard to keep us safe here at home!
