WELCOME!

SoHu New Haven is a block watch association comprised of neighbors in the lower East Rock neighborhood who are concerned about the security and well-being of our neighborhood. Our activities include a community block watch as well as neighborhood beautification and tree plantings.

ABOUT US

SoHu is an acronym for South of Humphrey. We are mostly comprised of the neighbors living on Pearl, Clark and Pleasant Streets, with a spillover onto State and Orange Streets, and through out the greater East Rock neighborhood. We are in New Haven, CT.

We take part in a Neighborhood Watch program in coordination with the New Haven Police Department and also work with the Urban Resources Initiative to plant trees in our neighborhood.

GABE BADUREK DINNER AND DANCE

This is a benefit for life long SoHu resident, and close friend, Gabe. Gabe was violently attacked by 3 high school teens on January 6th at approximately 8:40 pm and ultimately suffered near fatal stab wounds. This event is to help pay his medical and living expense while he recovers from major surgery related to the stabbing.
When: Saturday, February 25, 2012
Time : 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Where: Engineering and Science Magnet School (St Stan's) - 3rd floor 804 State St, New Haven Ct 06511.

What: Pasta dinner and Bar set ups

Music by DJ R.E, Connecticut's favorite DJ!
Cost : $25.00 per person.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, as well as a raffle with great prizes. (Check back for prize list)

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to help pay for Mona, Spooky, and Sammy's vet bills. $5,300 came directly through the paypal link, and an additional $1,920 was sent directly to New Haven Central Veterinary hospital. I am waiting for the final bill from the hospital, but expect it to be somewhere around $8,000. Don't worry! A very generous soul is going to cover any shortfall. A real angel. Mike came home from the hospital on Friday, Jan 27th. I took him to Mona's foster home so that he could see her. As you can see below, it was a great reunion!

On Saturday, I brought Mike to Spooky's foster home. This too is a wonderful reunion.

Mike was going to visit Sammy today, but I couldn't be there, so no pictures to share of that.
Mike is so very grateful to everyone for your support and generosity, both monetary and clothing. He is genuinely moved by the support not just from East Rock, but around the world. We received donations from Australia, England, Israel, and Afghanistan. Yes, a deployed troop with ties to New Haven took the time to make a donation. The world is full of really good people. Thank you.
